Michael Fallone

Born: 23 November 1938, Bellshill, Lanarkshire.

  • Member of the Glorney Cup team every year from 1952 through 1957
  • Scottish Champion 1963
  • West of Scotland Champion 1963
  • Played in the matches Scotland v England 1955, 1958 and 1962
  • Played at the Olympiads of Moscow 1956, Tel-Aviv 1964 and Havana 1966

The above letter, intended for Fairhurst, was delivered to Michael Fallone by Paul Keres during the 1964 Olympiad. It reads:

Dear Mr Fallone,
Please would you be so kind to forward the enclosed envelopes to Mr Fairhurst on your arrival at Glasgow. Thank you very much.

The letter was later found in a book that was likely previously owned by Michael Fallone. (Thanks to GM John Shaw of Quality Chess.)
