East of Scotland v West of Scotland 1899

Balmoral Hotel, Edinburgh.

Saturday, 29 April.

Games marked ** were adjudicated.

Game marked ?? - unclear text in newspaper, so not certain of name.

As previous matches had got 'out of hand', due to the large number of participants, it was decided to restrict the teams to 50-a-side, although the West was given the option of bringing 5 additional players, the East agreeing to provide opponents for them. As it was, the teams sat down with 54 on each side.

Mr W.M. Whitelaw for the East, and Mr J.R. Longwill for the West, were responsible for the respective orghanising committees.

The West won with a score of 34-20.
