Scottish Championship 1929

The 42nd annual Congress of the Scottish Chess Association commenced on Friday, December 28th, 1928 in the rooms of the Glasgow Chess Club at the Athenaeum. There were ten entries:-

Dr R.C. Macdonald (Inverness), the holder; J. Borthwick, W. Gibson, J.A. McKee, ex-champions, all of Glasgow; H.L. Forbes (Perth); J. Gilchrist (Falkirk); J.K. Harris (Glasgow)H.M. Paulet (Glasgow); J.H. Anderson_Robertson (Inverness), and H.N.J. Walsworth (Glasgow).

The championship was won by W. Gibson, for the seventh time in his career. His score could have been equalled by Harris, who had two outstanding adjourned games to be be played off after all other games were finished. Unfortunately, he lost the first of these to Dr Macdonald, after which he readily agreed a draw with Gilchrist, thereby sharing 2nd and 3rd places with that opponent.
