The annual Congress of the Scottish Chess Association was held this year at Perth, from the 27th to the 31st of March, and proved a pleasant and successful meeting. In the Major Tournament, the first prize of £7 and the ‘Spens' Memorial Gold Medal, with the possession of the Championship Cup for the year has been won by Mr. E. McDonald. The second and third prizes of £5 and £3 were divided between Messrs. D.Y. Mills and J.D. Chambers, who made equal scores.

Minor Tournament

1-2.= D. Robertson (Perth) and Wm Bremner (Glasgow) 6½.
3. J.F. Smith (Bridge of Earn) 6.
4-5.= J. Macdonald (Paisley) and F.A. St John (Dundee) 5.

Other players were R.A. Blackwood (Glasgow), J.R. Henderson, J. Brand, J.G. Dewar (all Perth).
