Junior Review – CS Members' Meeting

On 28 October I announced a provisional date for the meeting – Sunday 16 December – but said I could still reconsider if that proved unpopular. Only a couple of people have advised me of any problem with that date, so I can now confirm it: the Members' meeting to discuss the Junior Review and the recommendations arising from it will be held on Sunday 16 December 2007 in the Community Education Unit, Abbots Road, Grangemouth FK3 8JB , starting at 13:30 .

The meeting will be an opportunity for Chess Scotland members to:

•  discuss/debate any aspect of the Junior Chess in Scotland review carried out on behalf of CS by Frances Benton Associates;

•  (in particular) discuss/debate the Recommendations contained in the report that resulted from the review.

While this meeting, being neither a Council meeting nor a General meeting (AGM or SGM) as provided for in Chess Scotland's constitution, cannot in itself decide Chess Scotland's policy on any particular matter, minutes will be taken and will be published on the CS web site. Any motions proposed will be voted on, and the voting figures will be included in the minutes – I will regard these figures as a valid indication of the views of the members.

I hope that one or more of the Trustees of the SJCA Educational Trust will attend the meeting – I am sure that CS members will wish to include the future role of the Trust in the discussions.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available before and during the meeting. I've booked the hall till 18:00 , so there should be time for a good discussion of the review and recommendations.
