The 2005 Scottish Championships were held at Oban High School from the 2nd - 10th July.

These Championships are dedicated to the memory of Alan Murphy, a local player who was instrumental in bringing the Championships to the town. Alan was also a 'weel kent' face on the Scottish chess circuit.  A new trophy for the winner of the Senior Championship has been donated by MacTavish's Kitchen in remembrance of Alan.

Chess Scotland would like to acknowledge the support given to the event by the Caledonian Hotel and encourage competitors and visitors to frequent this establishment.
