Scottish Lightning Championship

For the second consecutive year the winner of the tournament did not qualify for the title of Scottish Lightning Champion.

The tournament was extremely hard fought with any of 4 possible winners going into the final round (round 7).

1^st Reinhard Schmerwitz (Germany) 6/7

2^nd and Scottish Lightning Champion Mark Ainsworth 5½

3^rd Ken Stewart 5, narrowly failing to defend his title.

The Grading Prize went to Craig Petrie who scored 3½ including a first round draw with number one seed Graeme Nolan, though it is safe to say that this would have qualified for the Lord Kirkwood Swindle prize!!!

Championship Quiz

The quiz will take place on Tuesday 10th July at the Smiddy Inn.

This is off Balloch Loop Road and is a leisurely 10 minute walk from the playing venue.

The competition will start at 8pm.

Entry Fee £1 per head.  Team size maximum of 4 people.

Last orders for homemade food is 7.45pm.
