The Liverpool Quadrangular event takes place this year on December 11 and 12. Cut off dates of birth are U12 (10 boards) 1 September 1998; U14 (10 boards) 1 September 1996; U16 (6 Boards) 1 September 1994. The bulk of the selections will be made after the Grangemouth congress results have been processed.
However, the selectors have decided to invite all players in the 6 board U12 team that went to Wales in July to play in the U12 team in December provided that they meet the new date of birth cut off. This we have done for two 2 reasons. Firstly as an appreciation of their exemplary behaviour in Wales both on and off the board. Secondly to help their preparation for a key fixture in our junior calendar.
For the U14 and U16 teams the first of these also applies but I wish to have to extra time to get coaching support organised for U12 players. In that age group preparation in advance gives much greater benefits than for the older age groups.
