Scottish Championship 1956

The 63rd congress of the Scottish Chess Association.

The tournament for the Scottish championship at Dundee , July 21-28, will be one of nine rounds between the following:

DR. J.M Aitken, Cheltenham, the holder; P.B. Anderson, Glasgow; E.G.W. Beckenham [sic should be Beckingham], H Deas, and E.A. Woods, Dundee; Colonel W.G. Irvine-Fortescue, Aberdeen; G. Dickson, Edinburgh; J. Cairncross, Lesmahagow; M. Fallone, Hamilton; and C.W. Marshall, Gourock.

The weeks later the Glasgow Herald columnist indicated that P.B. Anderson was unable to play and that his place would be taken by A.J. Galbraith, Brechin.
