Scottish Championship 1932

compiled by Alan McGowan

The 45 th annual Scottish Chess Congress took place at the Athenaeum, Glasgow , from March 25. The entries for the Championships were small but good. W.A. Fairhurst won the principal event without the loss of a single game. He is undoubtedly one of the strongest British players at the present time.

A feeling of sadness was caused by the news, during the Congress, of the death of two prominent Scottish players, William Gibson, many times champion, and J.G. Thomson, one of the veterans of the Association.
