The winner, William Gibson, a member of Glasgow Chess Club, had previously won the title in 1907 and 1912. He would go on to win a total of nine times, a record only beaten by Aitken (10) and Fairhurst (11).

The annual meeting of the Association was held on the Wednesday afternoon, Mr RE Corrie, Dundee, presiding. It was decided that next year's congress should be held at Glasgow, and Mr JRK Law, Glasgow, was elected president. It was agreed to recommend that the British Chess Association should present their school shield and medal to Fettes College, Edinburgh. A resolution was unanimously carried that the Association considers that the Scottish champion should be entitled to compete for the British championship.
