The annual congress [the twenty-fifth – AMcG] promoted by the Scottish Chess Association was opened in the Rooms of Dundee Chess Club yesterday. The programme consists of a major tournament deciding the championship of Scotland , a minor tournament, and a lightning handicap tournament. Note:

This was Mackenzie's first win of the championship. He would also take the title in 1909 and 1913.

“G. Dickson” is shown in several parts of the reports with inverted commas round his name. This is usually taken to indicate a pseudonym. This same reference is also given in connection with the 1907 championship. No information is available at this time to confirm the identity of the player.
