Glorney 2012
From what I am hearing in texts, emails and phone calls, the players are having a ball in Daventry. Great team spirit, mixing and socialising with the squads from the other nations. The parents are also telling me what a nice hotel they are staying at. I know there have been concerns particularly about the food costs but I want to wait till after the event proper to assess feedback from Donald, the coaching team, parents and players. All can be assured that every option in the future is being considered from a Scotland viewpoint and we will be exploring every possibility (especially those that may save us money!). David Congalton, David Deary, Donald Wilson and myself have been checking out possible venues for the Glorney 2013 in Scotland. Andy Howie has been very helpful too in providing patient advice to all and it will be a mammoth organisational task next year.

Fergus Skillen has now played an hour and a half longer than normal...

After an hour and a quarter, at last the first results:

Faber Bd 3: draw for Anna

U14 Bd 6: win for Fergus

U12 Bd 6: win for Euan

And yes, Fergus was the first to finish, but only by a minute ahead of Euan, with Anna a further minute behind.

Euan went from winning to totally lost to totally won, where he stayed. I suppose that's typical U12 chess, but it was nerve-racking for the coaching team.

Declan doing well. Very pleased for him as he had a bad result at Glasgow last weekend but played some strong opponents.
