Re: European Youth - Andy Howie - 21-08-2012

Where has all the doom and gloom gone???

I jest! Some phenomenal chess being played at the moment and it is really pleasing to see we have so many performing well over their grades. Can I dare to dream of a top 10 finish for one of our players? We were hoping for top 50!

We are loving the games being posted here. Please keep it up. Any chance of seeing Carl's short one??

Re: European Youth - Clement Sreeves - 21-08-2012

Thanks for the annotations Andrew. I liked your strong technique in the rook vs bishop endgame. I must admit when I quickly played through your game last night my only thought was MESS

Re: European Youth - Mike Scott - 21-08-2012

Well done Carl: as with a lot of tactics it is often all very obvious with hindsight - and its a reasonably common tactic in the QGA - but its never quote so easy OTB when you have a million and 1 other thoughts and ideas buzzing round your head. Not to mention you're playing a highly graded opponent.

Been following the game of Diana Mirza, the U12 Irish girl that played in our Scottish championships. She is going great with 3/4 and has black today. She has played 17.. Ng4. Her opponent has taken a very long time to play. It looks as though you feel Diana must be losing material but it's tricky.

Re: European Youth - Patrick McGovern - 21-08-2012

nice games from Murad and Carl, glad i'm not playing them Big Grin

Re: European Youth - robin moore - 21-08-2012

Not sure exactly what's happening today on the scores front. It's not just us that seem to have a lack of scores being updated, it's everyone.

Re: European Youth - robin moore - 21-08-2012

First result in and sadly Murad has lost. Knowing him, he will come out with all guns blazing tomorrow.

Re: European Youth - Patrick McGovern - 21-08-2012

also really good mature games from Andrew and Hamish Big Grin
