So the final placings are:

1. Wales 20
2. Scotland 19
3. England 17½
4. Ireland 15½

It's hard on the players to come so close - the boys who lost this afternoon are bitterly disappointed, but they must not blame themselves, nor should anyone at all criticise them. The whole team worked hard and did all we could ask of them. In the end, the best team won. It's the first time a Welsh team has won one of these tournaments, and we should congratulate them for their success.
