New British Champion - problem solving - David G Congalton - 23-02-2012

Congratulations to Colin McNab on his recent success, as top Brit, at the 2011-2012 British Chess Solving Championship.

Congratulations also to Roddy McKay who won the under 2300 rating prize.

Great achievement, finishing ahead of Nunn and Mestel, both of whom have won the event many times.

The really amazing point is how fast these solvers operate. The winner (from Poland) scored maximum points (65/65) in 58 minutes less than the almost 4 hours permitted. John Nunn was even faster - but dropped points in two set problems, scoring 56/65 in 77 minutes under the 230 permitted.

And if you care to look you will see a familiar name at place 20 - still solving in his 80's. That's what I call inspirational.
