Indeed. As per the quote in Jerry Maguire: "Show me the money".

Re: Holyrood motion - Andy Howie - 24-05-2015

Excellent, love the bit about success in the Sport!. Always good to see our MSPs speaking about chess. Wonder if we could get the Stirling one to do something similar after the success of the Stirling Schools. 172 participants I hear?

Re: Holyrood motion - Phil Thomas - 24-05-2015

172 entered Stirling primary schools event in advance. Some late entries, some no shows giving around 170 players on the day.

As usual most of those players won't develop into regular weekend players . But at least one of them has already entered the Chess For Kicks Final in June.

Always good to break some good news on this forum. Lets hope that this time the thread does not digress into personal abuse and get deleted before all notice board members get a chance to read it.

Re: Holyrood motion - Phil Thomas - 25-05-2015

Surprising that nobody made any comment about the last word of this motion going to the Scottish parliament,

Sport.

Raises a few questions does it not ?

1. Could it be that nobody in parliament wishes to debate whether chess is a sport or not ?

2. Could it be that if people are told that chess is a sport that they will accept that chess is a sport?

3. Could it be that activities such as Darts Bridge Snooker &c became accepted as sports because participants told the world that activities such as Darts Bridge Snooker were sports.

5. Could it be that the route to significant Chess funding is to get Chess generally accepted as a sport?

:-o

6. Could this motion be a key part of that process?

7 Did anyone read and take in all the words of that motion?.

8 who noticed that there was no question 4. ?

9 Who went back up this list to check that there was no question 4 ?

Its not a devolved matter Phil, CS and ECF are watching the court case with EBU with interest. Had a really good chat with Phil Ehr about it a couple of weeks ago. If the EBU are successful then we have grounds to approach Sport England and Sport Scotland suggesting they can save themselves a court case again if they let us in :p
