The first Dundee Congress in ten years went extremely well. This was the first time any of us on the committee had organised a congress.

It was difficult getting a space on the chess calendar that would not clash with other events. Once a date had been set the time left to organise was tight. Waiting to see if we would get support for the congress was hell, would we get enough entries? In the end the response was overwhelming with 139 entries in total!

The Queens Hotel proved to be an excellent choice of venue. Friday night was a bit cramped for space, but by Saturday morning we had sorted that out. The rest of the weekend went very well and I think overall the congress was organised well and ran smoothly.

Our post congress meeting on Wednesday November 3 will discuss how the event went and we'll go over the feedback sheets we asked the competitors to complete. Any comments you would like to make, please email nobleray59@yahoo.com

The Dundee Congress committee would like to thank all the Arbiters, Players, Helpers, Hotel staff and our sponsors for their support of the event. It could not have happened without you! We all look forward to seeing you again next year at the same time. Our thanks to Steve Pape of Manor House for presenting the prizes.
