My Chess Tournament

Louise Fox P6/7

On Saturday the 21st of October my mum woke me very early so she could take me to “Next Generation” but it wasn’t so I could play sport, she took me so that I could participate in a chess competition.  At first I was a bit nervous because I’ve not been playing chess for very long.  When I came into the hall I got even more nervous because there were over 100 people playing chess all in the same room, but I was pleased to see Mrs. Officer sitting at the desk where the children’s competition was being held.  After the first round I went down stairs to look around the Guide Dog stall.  Then we played the last round and I had lunch when it was finished, then we played the last round.  Now that all of the rounds had been played the scores were tallied up.  I did not get a very high score, but I really enjoyed participating.  A prize giving was held at the end of the day, I didn’t win anything but I had a great time.  I made some friends whilst I was there, their names were Morven and Peter and they were from Glasgow.  I thought that they were really nice to me when I lost against them.  Chess is a really fun game but sometimes it can be a bit extreme because you can break your knuckle or dislocate a finger (chess club antics..), but mostly it’s fun.
