The British Land Challenge – Gigafinal

By Alana Stewart, P7

On the 16th June, I went to Manchester University to play in a chess tournament.  There were a lot of people there and there were different sections: U/8, U/9 and U/10.  They all played on Saturday.  I was playing in the U/10 Girls’ because I was nine last year.

In the first game there was a huddle because everyone had to be seated.  In the first round I played a girl called Nicole.  She was very nice; we drew the round, so we both got half a point.

The second round was in about 45 minutes so we waited.  In the second round it was the same as normal, that round passed quickly.  Rounds 3, 4 and 5 were good because it was nearer the end and at the end its prize giving.

I got 2.5 points and I was very happy because I even got that far.  I got a certificate to say well done and I was very pleased.
