Scottish Primary School Team Championships

Saturday 25 March 2006

A team of four players from Hillside Primary School went to Glenrothes for a chess competition and I was part of the team.  There were eight teams including Hillside.  The competition started at 9.30am and finished at 12.30pm.  I have not been playing chess for long and it was my first competition.  My brain was exhausted at the end, but I was really happy that we won.

Out of all the eight teams Hillside won with 3.5 points out of 4.  We had a really great time and had our photograph taken at the end for the newspaper.  Hillside also qualified for the final of the Team Championships by winning this tournament.

By Callum Ewan, Age 9.

During the lunch break Amy Officer played a simultaneous game against ten of the competitors.

This meant she played ten people at the same time!

Alana, Erin, Sandi and Callum all played a game against Amy.
