Every Child Nursery Grandmaster Challenge

Thursday 20th October 2005

In lieu of a specific event for youngsters in the Congress this simultaneous was an opportunity for school players to play against GM Colin McNab. Unfortunately it turned out not to be in as much demand as expected. Various reasons have been suggested, but in the end only six schoolchildren took part, despite last minute easing of entry restrictions. In order not to disappoint those few, some adult players from Castlehill and Dundee & Victoria were roped in and a total of 18 took part. Despite it not being the event envisaged all those who took part enjoyed the experience. Colin almost kept a clean sheet, only dropping a draw to Bruce Wallace, when Bruce was material ahead.

I would just like to say that the congress was a huge success, it was brilliantly run and the venue was great!  I hope that it gets held there again next year!
